Regular Verbs

Rules for regular verbs:

  1. All regular verbs add 'ed' in simple past tense. (For example: He played basketball yesterday.)
  2. When a regular verb ends in a consonant + 'y' , the 'y' is changed to 'ied'. (Example: She studied hard for the exam.)
  3. When a regular verb has one syllable and end in consonant + vowel + consonant the final consonant doubled before adding 'ed' to form simple past tense. EXCEPTIONS: Verbs that end in 'x' or 'w'. (Example: I jogged yesterday.)
